My Own Grandmother

Mildred Annie Ottison Wanlass Mecham
All this Grandmother's house kit keeps bringing up memories of my own Grandmothers house. My Grandmother was a very influential woman to me . She was highly creative and instilled some of this in me. In fact it is her house that constantly inspires me in my own work. She is gone now, and I miss her deeply. My one and only brother. Who works in the film industry. Has made two documentaries. Each about our two grandmothers. Its one of my most prized possessions. In that is has actual video and sound footage of my Grandmother's. It has been great to show them to my children, for they were both gone before they were born. Below is the little teaser clip my brother made while working on the last documentary.

Derek -
I think it is SO touching to see your brother's video clip, and to read about your feelings for your grandmother. What a lucky woman to have been loved SO deeply!
I'm curious as to what your brother does in the film industry, as my husband was a film and video production major. He now has his own video production business, and produces a national TV show called Bass Edge. (He still does a lot of community service and corporate videos as well...plus our daughters' dance recital...LOL)
I have a just-for-fun designing site at http://scrapdoctor.blogspot.com. You are such a wonderful artist - you give me a standard to aspire to! If you ever happen to visit my blog, please leave a note - I'd be honored to know you'd been there..I have your blinkie posted there as one of my favorite sites! -Jeanie

I had a similar relationship with my grandmothers...it's amazing how much they can shape us and touch our lives so deeply. I'm glad you have these wonderful memories to cherish. She was beautiful, btw! :)

OMGosh! This post is wonderful. I thought I would never find another who's grandmother had the same name. Her name was "Mildred". She is no longer with me, but was 97 when she died. I miss her so...
