What an Honor!

This evening I stepped out for a bit to run to the storage unit to get some gifts that we hide there. Santa uses our storage unit this time of year. Upon returning, my family was all smiles. they presented me with the above certificate, a trophy and a candy bar. The Brown family, (Whom we don't even know) stopped by to give us first prize for our holiday light display in our neighborhood. How COOL is that, and what a nice gesture. Just makes me want to sing a carol and put more lights up. My moto on lights displays is Quality not Quantity.

Something similar happened last year. The lady that lived across the street had suffered a stroke and was confined to her bedroom. She passed away last Christmas while we were at Disneyland. I wasn't going to bother with the light that year because we were going to be gone. But as with every year I got this big burst of Christmas fever and put them up. Put everything on timers so they would be on while we were gone to CA. When we returned. The family of the lady who had passed on, came over to tell us that she could see our house from her bed and looked forward to seeing it every night. That it had helped cheer her up in her last days. Its still hard for me to talk about it. I choke up.

Very well deserved. The lights and your house are beautiful. And what a lovely thought that you were able to make someone's life so happy even if you didn't realize it at the time. But that is what makes it so special.... You were doing it from the heart.
